Week in Review: Asher Roth, the Silent Superhero; Real World: Brooklyn, Obnoxious Diseasebags

In the week we met the Real World Brooklyn cast (again) and yipee-skippied at the first episode, we also watched Whitney Port in The City and learned to stay away from the "Downtown Crowd." Meanwhile, the real youth-world Brooklyn was actually here.

A rap spectacular this week. For a second, Asher Roth was a crime-fighter, but then it turned out to be his solo-ripping bassist. The Atlantic Monthly finally explained P. Diddy's "White Parties" and Aziz Ansari waged war on "Diddy Blogs." A track off the Biggie biopic Notorious soundtrack featuring B.I.G.'s son CJ leaked, and the young Wallace mounted his Presidential campaign by ringing the bell on Wall Street. Plus, Slim had the iTunes Free Single of the Week.

Bones took in a six-foot bunny suit in golden nylon at Location One, Richard Gehr read Jacob Covey's Beasts! Book 2, and yours truly temped as cheeky listings editor for Barack Obama's Inauguration.

SXSW 2009 announces its partial performers' list (Peter, Bjorn, & John again), while Steve Knopper talked about saving (or not) the record industry.

But musicians are still playing live: My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas, Amanda Palmer, Babe the Blue Ox, Bill Frisell, and the USC Marching Band.

Last but not least, Kanye's beard is not gray!
