Pharrell is dead to us
Nice: Entertainment Weekly reports the Clipse are in a Malibu studio with Rick Rubin. While Pharrell will forever probably be the murky, coruscating ideal for the Clipse's brand of savage, merciless precision (here's hoping they borrow "Yes" at some point), it was also time to move on: new producers, new beats, new girl songs. Rubin is a loud, flashy if not entirely logical choice: When have these guys ever deigned to raise their voices? But Pusha and Mal's ear for non-Pharrell original production has always seemed a bit off; this at least guarantees they'll get something bonkers. [Daily Swarm]
