James Franco Recommends Carl Wilson's A Journey to the End of Taste at the Oscars

Categories: Books, Featured

Zoilus is oddly (modestly?) quiet today, but Carl Wilson had his 33 1/3 book Let's Talk About Love: A Journey to the End of Taste recommended by James Franco on the Oscars red carpet last night. Since these books are labors of love in a bizarre, almost impossibly quixotic sense, it's good to see Wilson get some profile on national television. I can't think of any other writing project right now where the reward is more uncertain--some books in the series, like Douglas Wolk's Night at the Apollo or John Darnielle's Master of Reality, do quite well, are reviewed, etc.; others seem to vanish almost immediately. Quality probably has a lot to do with it: the series, as the latest shortlist indicates, remains a rare and uncommon platform, as long as you've got something rare and uncommon to say. [Idolator]
