Ta-Nehisi Coates To Self-Crowned Hip-Hop Republican Michael Steele: "Talk Like A Regular Human Being"

Oh, man. The newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele continues his "off the hook" offensive on the English language in the above video, responding to a question about cutting off funding for Republican party traitors by saying: "I'm always open for everything, baby." A phrase an utterly mystified Neil Cavuto then repeats back to him in a Ralph Z. Hallow-reminiscent double take.

The Atlantic's Ta-Nehisi Coates wades into the fray:

My beef is simple--From citing ancient rappers, to shouting out "urban-suburban hip-hop settings," Michael Steele is abusing the language I love. The last straw is below where Steele tells Neil Cavuto, "I'm always open for everything, baby." Dear Michael. For the black in all of us. Please stop now. Talk like a regular human being and stop trying to teach the dun language. You are not prepared.

Which is awesome, although Coates might refrain from giving Steele new slang ideas--I doubt Fox News is at all ready for the phrase "dun language."
