Vampire Weekend To Play Happy Ending Series, Hopefully Re-Cover Blitz

Oh--is it summertime again already?

If the sight of Colson Whitehead reading aloud haikus about Kiefer Sutherland's 24 at last night's Happy Ending Music and Reading Series wasn't a convincing enough case for the perennially killer event, Amanda Stern announced from the stage last night that the musical guest that would be joining our pal Wells Tower, John Wray, and Arthur Phillips on May 6 would be none other than Vampire Weekend. Part of the Happy Ending requirement, of course, is that musicians chose a cover for the audience to join in on: last night saw Sam Amidon and Doveman covering R. Kelly's "Relief," which worked way better than you might have imagined. As for the next one, word has not yet leaked about which song Vampire Weekend will do. But we hear they do a mean Blitz cover. Tickets are available starting now at St. Joe's Pub.
