Cuddly Vampire from Twilight to Play Black Metal Murderer Varg Vikernes in Lords of Chaos Adaptation

In what producer Stuart Pollack promises to be a "funny portrait of Norway," casting has apparently begun for Lords of Chaos, the movie based on the book based on what the dust jacket shamelessly calls "the bloody rise of the satanic metal underground," or, as the rest of us refer to it, black metal. The three church burnings and real life murder-by-knife of Oystein Aarseth, a/k/a Euronymous, by Varg Vikernes, a/k/a Count Grishnackh, seem likely to feature as heavily in the movie as they do in the book.

Vikernes, who is on his way to being freed from a Norwegian prison despite at least one escape attempt and what appears to be a total lack of remorse, could conceivably have played himself. But I guess that's what movie stars are for: Jackson Rathbone, the lovable vampire from Twilight, will play Norway's most famous church-burning homicidal national socialist in the upcoming film, which IMDB has slated for 2010. Sion Sono, director of the execrable Suicide Circle, will direct. "I look forward the day that I could work on my farm, create music, write books and be with the wife and kids around the clock -- and live a normal life," said Vikernes, back when the news broke that he'd be finally free, so at least there's a silver lining: Right about the time he gets out, the entire world will be reminded about what a tremendous murderous asshole he is.
