Finally, Jelly NYC's Pool Parties Made Official: Mission of Burma, Deerhunter, Girl Talk, Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, and More

File under Summer 2009's Worst-Kept Secrets: Jelly NYC is, again this year, throwing a slew of free Sunday-afternoon shows in Williamsburg. As pretty much everyone and your L-Train-puking pug already knew (except AM New York), this season's location is 90 Kent Ave a/k/a the Williamsburg Waterfront a/k/a the place where a few weekends ago I taunted a hippie-pirate-juice truck from a moving car. Anyway.

Though the series has been relocated from McCarren's empty canyon of a swimming hole to the goose-shit-fertilized stretch of angry crab-grassland between North 8th and 9th, Jelly NYC's keeping the Pool Parties name. (No big deal: it was always a bit of false advertising before, given that the only non-bottled water was the "filmy, greasy trickle" oozed out of a nearby Slip 'N Slide.) This year, Jelly's promising the return of Dodgeball, the onslaught of basketball, and the threat of being permanently banned if you're caught drinking underage. Plus an eight-week line-up that begins next Sunday, July 12 with Mission of Burma, Fucked Up, and Ponytail. The rest of the shows are in that nifty graphic below; walking directions to the Turkey's Nest, from where you can most definitely suck down a $7 covered margarita on the trek back, here.
