Tonight! Monday

Categories: Featured, Tonight

A long weekend brings a slow Monday. For the Wallflowers at Irving Plaza, accept Greil Marcus's digestion of God Says Nothing Back, which could describe most any of the band's songs: "With a stoic backbeat and Jakob Dylan's fatalistic way of biting off his words, this is the sound of someone thinking--about insignificance, in the pop world, in the real world."

Peter Murphy, "the Godfather of Goth" and Buffy the Vampire Slayer contributor, plays Highline Ballroom. He's running a Secret Cover tour, which means that as of now, we have no idea who he's covering.

International acoustic strummer Asa is MTV's ambassador to South Africa, a position with roughly as much regional sway as the current US ambassador to Zimbabwe. She's at (le) poisson rouge.

And if you haven't already, head to the MOMA for their great exhibit of punk photography, aptly titled Looking at Music, which is running through November.
