Advance Stream: Richard Hell's Somewhat Bizarre, Thoroughly Excellent Destiny Street Repaired

richardhell-destiny-street-repaired.jpg
So here's a strange thing: Next month Insound will release a revamped, partially rerecorded version of Richard Hell and the Voidoids jovially jagged 1982 NYC punk classic Destiny Street, with Robert Quine's original rhythm-guitar tracks overlayed with all-new vocals by Hell and stupendously off-kilter guitar solos by Marc Ribot, Ivan Julian, and Bill Frisell. The new version has been christened Destiny Street Repaired, and against all odds, the result sounds perfectly (un)natural, which I can tell you because MBV is streaming the whole thing for free right now. "Lowest Common Dominator" isn't just a clever song title, folks.
