Today Is Les Paul's Final Day in New York City

Les Paul, the technologically innovative and resolutely virtuosic guitarist who died last week at the age of 94, will have his New York sendoff today in a private ceremony. Paul's manager, Michael K. Braunstein, told the A.P. that after the service and a reception in the Gibson showroom today, Paul would be buried on Friday in his hometown of Milwaukee. Residents of that city will have their own opportunity to say goodbye: there will be a four-hour public viewing at the Discovery World museum--where they'll show a video of the guitarist's final Milwaukee performance, from 2008-- before Paul goes to his final resting place, the Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha. He'll be buried in a family plot, alongside his mother.
