WFMU Announces WFMU Fest

In 2008, the pioneering Jersey City-based freeform radio outfit WFMU celebrated its 50th anniversary. One year later, the party evidently continues: WFMU will host a music festival over the first three days of October at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, and they're bringing out the heavy hitters. The kids over there somehow wrangled German kraut-rock legends Faust and NYC's own long-dormant Teenage Jesus and the Jerks to headline a lineup that is also set to include Cold Cave, Sightings, Talk Normal, Drunkdriver, and more.

Having seen the Teenage Jesus and the Jerks one-off reunion at the Knitting Factory last year, we can personally testify to the mighty and hideously ugly power this band has somehow maintained. They anchor a Saturday night finale that will also include Sightings, one of the few bands in this city with a real claim to Lydia Lunch's brutal legacy. Faust, still sporting two original members and sometime Lunch-collaborator James Johnston, play the festival's first night, on Thursday, and get their own distant echo in the post-noise openers Cold Cave. No surprise that these WFMU guys have good taste, but goddamn. The schedule in full:
