Wyclef Jean's Haiti Charity Is Probably OK, But Why Not Just Give to the Red Cross If You're Worried About It?

yelehaiti.jpg
Lackluster accounting practices and what looks to have been some self-patronage probably should not shatter people's faith in the Wyclef Jean Foundation, which has already raised a ton of money for relief in Haiti. The Smoking Gun's digging mostly just turned up irregular tax returns and a few questionable payouts off of which Wyclef might've personally benefited. Lousy, but does anyone actually think dude is going to divert money away from Haiti right now? That said! There are a bunch of other ways to give money to the relief effort underway there so if you're nervous, give money to someone else! For instance: this Red Cross text thing seems to work pretty well.
