Tonight! Neon Indian, Atlas Sound, and Sisters; Questlove; Cold Cave and Nite Jewel; and Japanther

Today is de facto back to school night: Neon Indian, Atlas Sound, and Sisters will be performing at NYU's Kimmel Center, the very building that Take Back NYU! took over a year ago this month. Fortunately, tonight's excitement will involve woozy chillwave, tingling euphoric pop, and lo-fi rocking, respectively. Over at Brooklyn Bowl, Questlove, a man who own 50,000 records in a climate-controlled library, will be DJing. For some electro-scalping, you can head to the Mercury Lounge and attempt to nab some tickets for the sold-out Cold Cave and Nite Jewel show. The more stable choice, however, is to hop on BAM's Sounds Like Brooklyn Festival trail and see Japanther at Station 171 with Leaders, Boogie Boarder, Cerebral Ballzy, and the Death Set. Judging from Japanther's new song, you can expect, as Zach Baron eloquently put it, "a new layer of demented girl group harmony" alongside "the band's usual fuzz n' buzz melodic tricks."
