Tonight! Plastic Ono Band (For Real This Time), Wavves, Lightspeed Champion, and Bear Hands
Today, Yoko Ono is busy assembling the year's most disparate backing group. After yesterday's "dress rehearsal," her reincarnated Plastic Ono Band will be performing at BAM, with guests ranging from Eric Clapton to Sean Lennon to ... the Scissor Sisters? Also included in the lineup are Mark Ronson, Thurston Moore, Paul Simon, and music's ying and yang, Bette Midler and Kim Gordon. The equally disorienting decision would be to celebrate Mardi Gras at the Brooklyn Bowl with Wavves, who will take the stage after a parade of burlesque dancers and cyclists parade through Williamsburg. At Sound Fix Records, Lightspeed Champion plies his defeatist acoustic numbers; Bear Hands deliver plodding groove rock at Webster Hall.
