Wednesday night is polarizing. First you've got a free show at the Bowery Electric with the Postelles (that's them to the left), an Albert Hammond Jr.-produced retro-rock pack. Then there's the significantly less Motown-ish yet equally vintage lo-fi rock of Harlem at the Mercury Lounge. They sing about girls, too, but only with regards to their "Psychedelic Tits." Providing the ultimate contrast of the evening is the Unsound Music Festival offering at Le Poisson Rouge. Tim Hecker, Radian, Tape, and Mountains will be performing, glorifying the festival's name with wordless, half-terrifying, half-sedating electronica. And finally, the Chris Weingarten-approved PC Worship will take the stage at Silent Barn. Expect "that gross basement mush-punk scruff-scrunge that's somewhere between Reatard and blackened chillwave." Mush punk, unsound ambience, or retro-rock? Decisions, decisions.
