Tonight! Micachu & the Shapes, Tanlines, She & Him, jj, And The Big Pink
With homemade stringed instruments, atonal computer blips, and a name inspired by the third-cutest Pokemon, Micachu & the Shapes will perform tonight at Le Poisson Rouge. Joining them are Tanlines, a group of YouTube enthusiasts who compose physically impossible Latin grooves bathed in batches of samples. Meanwhile, at the Bowery Ballroom, Ms. Zooey Deschanel will perform with M.Ward as She & Him, a celebrity duo whose charm (which we explore in some detail here), is derived not from their sweetly summery ballads, but rather, from Deschanel's impeccable 1:1 bang-to-face ratio. And finally, the recently praised jj will take the stage at the Knitting Factory, while the Big Pink, perhaps the only band to ever to inadvertently compose an answer to "It's Raining Men," will play at Webster Hall.
