On Christina Aguilera's S&M Bonanza Of A Video For "Not Myself Tonight"
The late '80s. I am in the 10-12 range, sitting on the couch watching MTV, when my mom happens into room midway through the mildly "sexy" video for Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted Snake," which, at the time, could be regarded as somewhat risque, culturally relatively speaking. My mother is horrified, scrambles for the remote to turn it off, frets about the potential damage to my psyche, etc. etc. I am now imagining the tremendously unpleasant things Mom would've done on the spot if it'd been this video instead. "Shit a brick" is the nicest, least visceral way I can put it.
