Everyone's favorite "goddamn American hero," Ted Leo, will be chord-chugging tonight at the Fillmore with Screaming Females. Though if you've been offended by his karaoke criticism, you can always check out mindlessly ecstatic lo-fiers the Sundelles at Glasslands; joining them are Arms (who are sort of like "Grizzly Bear covering late-'80s Cure") and Sea Monsters (who, despite the ferocity of the name, recall a youthfully bored and undefeated Julian Casablancas). Over at Fort Useless, lovable new-wavers MiniBoone will take the stage, a welcome alternative to this weekend's plethora of sold-out Bands You've Already Seen shows (Cymbals Eat Guitars, Florence and the Machine, tUnE-YaRdS, etc.). Also: pompadour-pushing, Andre 3000 reincarnate Janelle Monáe at Joe's Pub.

On Saturday, take a break from the indies for the fantastically band-geekish "Trombone Festival" at Ibeam, or just go to 92Y and see Doveman, the only musician capable of making a Kenny Loggins song beautiful (let alone the entire Footloose soundtrack). At Family Bookstore, Mirror/Dash, a/k/a Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, will deliver, as expected, duel-guitared and distortion-damaged noise rock. And if you missed last week's Party Expo show, you can see Ninjasonik/Japanther collaboration Wild Babies at Cake Shop.

Moving on to Sunday, come ready to douse yourself in "wet washes of creepy reverb and drone" at the mercy of 1000TimesYes' latest poster-children, Twin Sister, at Silent Barn. Sundelles will perform again at Glasslands, while Balún, a Puerto Rican 8-bit band, kindles NES nostalgia at Cake Shop. They claim to have been influenced by "Las Brujas." Your day just got better:
