Murder City Devils were a Seattle garage-punk menace who drank and fought while playing songs about drinking and fighting. As is the case with most bonds forged on booze and disorderly conduct, the center could not hold. The band, barely able to be in the same room together, unceremoniously dissolved early in the 21st century. Fortunately, they left the world with a near-perfect document of existential rebellion and alcoholic fury, 2000's In Name and Blood, and yesterday early evening at the Williamsburg Waterfront, they returned to it, playing the record's--and their--arguably finest moments: "Press Gang," "Rum to Whiskey," "Someone Else's Baby."

The occasion was this summer's second Pool Party, which earlier in the day hosted Nashville's Jeff the Brotherhood and SOTC faves Obits. Sam Horine shot the show (full Pool Party photos here), along with people who may or may not have known what they were witnessing.
