M.I.A.'s Free Show Will Be October 6th at Brooklyn Bowl

The good news: M.I.A. is finally doing her long promised free make-up show at Brooklyn Bowl. The bad news: she seems (not surprisingly) to be doing it without the help of HARD, her original partners in the endeavor, which means no apparent special treatment for ticket holders from the original July semi-debacle. First come, first serve, at Brooklyn Bowl, where lining up begins at 7 p.m., and doors open at 9:30. Say what you will (wouldn't want to be within several blocks of that place during the two-and-a-half hour interlude between the line forming and the line moving) but at least she's proved herself a woman of her word. Meanwhile, last night's Terminal 5 show had its own nearly averted disaster:

A power failure in the neighborhood led to Terminal 5 postponing doors for 90 minutes and, evidently, denying Maya a soundcheck. Seriously, what is it with her and NYC? Luckily, power was restored, and the show went ahead more or less on schedule. (More on that later.) We are genuinely relieved to not have to update the "Is M.I.A.'s 2010 Cursed?" timeline.
