Greenpoint Club Coco66 Is Taking The Week Off From Doing Shows To "Become A Better Venue With More Space For People"

• anyone who's been in the band room of COCO 66 knows it's pa physical impossibility to get 350 people in that room, I was at that show and there were just under 200, the room itself can hold about 150..all this is a bunch complainers who moved from Wisconsin to NY and know-nothing hipsters who think everything should be like their basement parties at Skidmore, basically they are just getting pinched by a greedy city gov. who wants to aid even greedier landlords into converting every square foot of usable space into a Starbucks. Look at what happened at Santos, a club that can hold over 1,0000; drug violation my ass.

• hey punk lady. if you ever went there you would like many, get lost because it is such a large space. The entire space can easily hold 400 people. Get a clue.

• Every person who ever says "if it's too loud, you should move" is from Ohio or Kansas originally and bases their image of what's acceptable on old L&O reruns. why is no one outraged at this venue's complete disregard for the safety of the people who attend shows, perform or work there? 350 in a space for 75 is just excessive greed. It's not altruism.

• "We were doing construction all night last night, " Are you a braggart, scofflaw, and an idiot or just 2 out of 3?

• I wish they would just soundproof the damn place or go back to being a bar (which is when it was actually cool). As a neighbor of the building, I can say that the music from the back of the venue is completely too loud and has affected many people in my building. Being that they don't even have a cabaret license or public assembly license, I'm still unsure how they were allowed to have concerts in the first place. And before people say, if it's too loud, you should move, I moved into my apartment long before it was a concert venue. When it was just a bar, I had absolutely no problems with noise and would actually go to the bar very often. Since it's transformation, however, I stay away.

• There is still a vacate order on the club - legally, they couldn't open if they wanted to. The manager is blowing smoke - they did have to close because the DOB shut them down. They probably won't be able to reopen until the DOB/FDNY says they are up to code, which could mean multiple means of egress, sprinklers or a cabaret license. FDNY takes this shit seriously - 350 people in a space permitted for 75 is The Station waiting to happen.
