So Bob Dylan Is Coming to Terminal 5 In November

And so history's most evil Santa impersonator will come to the Bowery Presents' biggest venue next month, a win for the massive local concert promotion conglomerate, and a draw for the fans who will surely sell these shows out in a matter of minutes. At three nights (November 22nd-24th, or the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before Thanksgiving), concertgoers will get a chance to play agonizing Dylan bingo--which will be the totally incomprehensible show? (All of them, possibly.) Which will be the all-Christian-rock evening? And which will be the one added to the long rolls of immortal, improbably great late career Dylan marathons?

Any and all of these options seem likely. Basic song recognition is always an uncertain thing these days with this guy; the windy confines of Terminal 5 won't necessarily help with that. But it's a more affordable ticket than usual and probably an upgrade, sound-wise, on Prospect Park. Plus, you know, Bob Dylan. Every baby born since 1970 has had one of his shows on their bucket list, like it or not. Tickets are on presale now (the password is "tamarind," according to Brooklyn Vegan), and go on Am Ex presale tomorrow; the rest of us will have to wait until 10 a.m. on Friday. Wouldn't delay much longer than that though.
