Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys Playing Solo At Rockwood Music Hall, Stealing Shit From His Hotel While He's In Town
As joyful, visually excessive, oft-animal-costume-based psychedelic-pop extravaganzas go, a Super Furry Animals show is pretty much unbeatable, largely thanks to cheerful, hirsute frontman Gruff Rhys, who's now preparing to embark on a solo thing; a full-length, Hotel Shampoo, will be out early next year (here's "Shark Ridden Waters," should you desire a sample), for whose promotion he'll be stopping by Rockwood Music Hall January 13. Whichever hotel is putting him up, we advise them to bolt everything down -- he's also recently completed Hotel Shampoo, "an art installation made entirely of bathroom items garnered from various hotels throughout his touring career."
