Week In Review: You Know We Were Kidding About That Best Year Ever Thing, Right?

In the week we debated whether 2010 was the best year for music ever (you guys know that was a joke, right?), we pitted Chris Brown against Katy Perry, Titus Andronicus against LCD Soundsystem, Taylor Swift against M.I.A., and house music against hashtag rap. Everybody won.

Meanwhile, we continued our countdown of the worst songs of 2010: Tom Petty, Artists for Haiti, Salem, Aaron Lewis, Ludacris, and Santana, you may now feel free to be ashamed of yourselves.

Luckily we also provided a palate cleanser: please welcome our mixtape of the best local music of 2010, starring Sweet Bulbs, Marnie Stern, Sharon Van Etten, and special guest Hannibal Buress, who apparently thought we were making something about Willow Smith.

Prince did the hits at the Izod Center. Ben Folds covered Ke$ha at the Beacon Theatre. Kathleen Hanna and a bunch of her famous friends invaded the Knitting Factory. Justin Bieber provoked squeals and Katy Perry provoked awesomeness at Z100's Jingle Ball. Peaches Christ Superstar ascended at the Society For Ethical Culture. And Rammstein brought hella pyro and a penis cannon to MSG.

Plus Neil Young in Brooklyn, Kanye out of the top ten, Das Racist banned in the U.K., new music from Coasting, and more, below. Looking for something to do this weekend? Consult our nightlife guide. We're back on Monday.
