Meatloaf Is Playing Irving Plaza Next Month

From the Dept. of Fuck Yeah comes word that the one, the only Meatloaf will be gracing a relatively tiny venue with his relatively enormous arena-rock grandeur: He's playing Irving Plaza February 23, in what's billed as his most intimate New York City gig since before a goodly number of you were even born. (The Bottom Line in 1977, allegedly.) He is indeed threatening to release a new album, Hang Cool Teddy Bear, this year, hopefully a worthy follow-up to Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose, which occasioned a goofy 2006 press conference in a church in the Village and featured a touching duet with some Norwegian lass on "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." Tix are on sale Friday, Jan. 28; the press release specifically mentions "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" and "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," so plan on spending at least part of the night bathed in glorious cheeseball (meatball?) nostalgia. Don't even pretend like this isn't the greatest power ballad ever:
