LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey Add Terminal 5 Dates

Yes, the Great LCD Soundsystem Retirement Show debacle took another turn over the weekend: Given the profound likelihood that an appalling percentage of the tickets for their April 2nd Madison Square Garden gig are now in the hands of scalpers, the band has announced four Terminal 5 shows to precede it, March 28-31, with a pretty stupendous James Murphy rant thrown in for good measure:

we're announcing all the shows at once, and if they don't sell out, i don't care. i just want to give people who actually want to see us a chance to see us. for a reasonable ticket price. and i want to drop the price of the msg tickets being sold by piece of shit scalpers.

That rant is worth reading in full, as it expertly mixes scalper-based indigence that he sold out MSG in like 60 seconds with genuine shock and elation re: same. For an ever so slightly more cynical take on this fiasco, we turn to Bob Lefsetz, who calls Murphy "ignorant" and "dumb" while noting that "just because you listen to a band's music ad infinitum, that does not mean you're entitled to a front row seat at a tiny price." Oh, Bob, all you're ever gonna be is mean.

In slightly less high-profile concert news, PJ Harvey has added a T5 show too -- her April 20 show is long since sold out, but now she'll be there the day before, April 19, too. This was not accompanied by a 1,000-word missive about how Polly Jean Harvey felt about it, but it will probably sell out anyway.
