At Least The Beastie Boys Gave Madison Square Garden Something To Cheer About This Weekend

hotsauce.jpg
On Saturday morning the Beastie Boys previewed their imminent album Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 in a way that married low and high technology and arena spectacle: They stuck a boombox in the middle of Madison Square Garden's basketball court, someone hit "play," and hey, there it was. Neither the Beasties nor their celebrity doubles were on hand, but the album's crackle more than made up for the absence of stardust. For those of you who were asleep or otherwise occupied in the pre-noon hours of the weekend, the whole thing's still streaming; embed after the jump.

(And if you're a Knicks fan who can't bear to see the sight of the team's logo after last night, might I suggest hitting play, docking this tab in another window, and watching puppies frolic? They might even have some rhythm! You could also read New York's gigantic oral history of the group, although the puppies might serve your jangled fan nerves a bit better.)
