Happy 60th Birthday, Joey Ramone

Today would have been the Queens-born punk legend Joey Ramone's 60th birthday, and tonight his annual birthday bash will take place at Irving Plaza; tickets are still available for the show, which will offer performances by the likes of Bebe Buell, Richard Lloyd, and Richie Ramone and which benefits the Lymphoma Research Foundation. We've been paying tribute to the late New York fixture all week here on Sound of the City, too, in a series that includes testimonials and memorials from Jesse Malin and Rock 'N' Roll High School director Allan Arkush. Joey was not only a legend, he was by all accounts a great guy, and he's missed to this day.
