Everything You Need To Know About The 4Knots Music Festival
After many weeks of planning and announcements and waiting, the daylong music festival we here at The Village Voice host, 4Knots, is happening tomorrow at Piers 16 and 17 of the South Street Seaport! A guide to the day follows.
Sandlin Gaither Archers Of Loaf will headline Saturday's 4Knots Music Festival.
First and foremost, since staying in good spirits for the day is important: The projected high tomorrow is 90 degrees (and there's a chance of storms in the evening), so please be sure to read Voice Music Editor Maura Johnston's helpful guide on how to stay cool and not die of a heatstroke at an outdoor show.
Once you've done that, catch up on the roster of performers. Michaelangelo Matos profiled afterparty host Jonathan Toubin (who had a lot to say about the state of DJing and his past); Michael Tedder explored the NYC indie-pop scene with Hospitality and the Drums; Dan Weiss spoke with Eric Bachmann of the still-reunited Archers of Loaf; yours truly went across the Hudson to hang out with post-rockers Crocodiles; and Eric Davidson talked to Kid Congo Powers, who's playing the afterparty.
The schedule for the 4Knots Music Festival, which is free and which spans two stages:
1:30 p.m.: Nick Waterhouse
2:30 p.m.: Bleached
3:30 p.m.: Hospitality
4:30 p.m.: Crocodiles
5:30 p.m.: The Drums
6:30 p.m.: Archers of Loaf
1:00 p.m.: Doldrums
2:00 p.m.: Devin
3:00 p.m.: Team Spirit
4:00 p.m.: Delicate Steve
The presale for the afterparty, with Black Lips and Kid Congo Powers and hosted by Jonathan Toubin, has ended, but a bunch will be waiting at the door of the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club for 15 bucks. Doors are at 7, show is after Archers finish.
If you're hungry tomorrow, Voice food critic Robert Sietsema listed his five favorite South Street Seaport eats.
