Why Hip-Hop Purists Should Learn To Stop Worrying and Love Waka Flocka

Also, there's the contingent who find Flocka and his music to be a somehow destructive, detrimental presence to society. Maybe? But Flocka is, in addition to regularly donating toys at Christmas and literally hundreds of turkey dinners to local families in need at Thanksgiving, one of the rappers at the forefront of now ubiquitous Holding Puppies Movement, which this video proves:

Of course, Flocka's music isn't for everybody. But, considering the comparably unorthodox fully-realized visions in his Salute Me or Shoot Me mixtapes and especially his debut Flockaveli have resonated with as much of an audience as he's found, Flocka should be commended for returning the unpredictable wilder mash-out style of hip-hop into a far too pristine hip-hop landscape. As his sound continues to evolve, even taking on incorporating acoustic elements and international influences, his presence in the rap game is a needed one. Bravo, Flocka!

the problem with this piece is that it is a few years too late. waka isnt what he once was. the last album was pretty weak. but yeah, flockaveli was a classic and should be regarded as such. one of the few real classic albums in the old fashioned sense of the past few years.

Chaz Kangas is a rapper himself and now I'm questioning his motives for wanting to be apart of the culture. Anybody that will support a rapper that blatantly promotes the destruction of the black community clearly has a questionable agenda, couple that with him being a white male in a country like the U.S. where an up tic in racism has been occurring I no longer trust him. Plus he knows nothing about rap music, Onyx and M.O.P. were lyrical, ante up celebrated anti-materialism. BMF came out the same year as Hard In The Paint so I'm quite sure we would still have H.A.M.. Garbage reading.

@Thought "Hard in Da Paint" was originally released as a mixtape track in 2009, over six months before "B.M.F."

I didn't even read the whole article, LMAO, you're crediting this "artist" with the popularity of a Jay-Z and Kanye West Collaboration? You should stop, writing, drinking, or writing while you drink.

How dare you even put MOP and this trash in the same article, good lord, how old are you? If youre past the age of 16, you have no excuse to write this... I'm not a purist, I like Drake, some and others from CM.  Waka Flocka Flame is whats wrong with rap, its shit. He's shit, and you my good sir can recognize your own. Congratulations.
