Matthew Morrison goes back to his pre-Glee roots at 54 Below on Saturday & Sunday

Sunday, 7/14:

Matthew Morrison
54 Below
Saturday, 11pm; Sunday, 3pm & 7pm, $65-$75
Long before he was Mr. Schuester on Glee, he was a B'way regular playing roles like South Pacific's Lieutenant Cable. Hence, of course, the Where It All Began title he's given the new CD introed during this gig. Suave as can be and down to earth, he'll undoubtedly be back on The Great White Way once the series takes it final bow. In the meantime, here he is, crooning sexily and moving fluidly to standards first heard in the show-bizzy neighborhood. -- By David Finkle

Latin Alternative Music Conference
Multiple Venues
Friday through Sunday, various prices
Each year we attend the Latin Alternative Music Conference with one major goal in mind: to discover as much new music as possible. This year, a lot of our favorites are returning to the annual music party, including Mexican songstress Julieta Venegas, alternative cutie Natalia Lafourcade, and Barcelona's electro-rockers the Pinker Tones, who are not to be missed. However, keep an eye out for LAMC newcomers such as Mexican indie pop-rock band Torreblanca, Caracas rockers Viniloversus, and Chilean electro-pop band Astro. And tonight, catch the free Summerstage showcase in Central Park with three captivating female singer-songwriters: Lila Downs, Natalia Clavier, and Pamela Rodriguez. Through Sunday, for a full lineup, panel schedule, locations, and admission, visit latinalternative.com. -- By Araceli Cruz

Chris Schlarb
Cameo Gallery
8pm, $10
On Psychic Temple II, Schlarb's terrific new album of boundary-dissolving jazz-pop, members of Xiu Xiu, the Mars Volta, and Cynic help the guitarist mix bucolic Amerijazzicana and hep soul-jazz pastiches with beautiful and ingenious rethinks of Zappa's "Sofa No. 2," Brian Wilson's "'Til I Die," and even Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out." It's all very thoughtful and very good. With Aaron Roche, Jeremiah Cymerman, The Flag. -- By Richard Gehr

Fanfare Ciocarlia + Red Baraat
Central Park
3pm, free
Formed in 1996 when a German producer visiting a small Romanian town convinced several talented locals to band together, Fanfare Ciocarlia (meaning "skylark brass band") has since become the world's best-known Balkan/Romani band of its horn-driven ilk. The twelve-piece plays fast, exciting music that punctuates Turkish, Serbian, and Macedonian numbers with Bollywood and Western covers. Sunny Jain, whose double-headed dhol drum gives it its heartbeat, leads thunderous local drums-and-brass ensemble Red Baraat -- By Richard Gehr

inc. + Kelela + Total Freedom
Music Hall of Williamsburg
9pm, $12/$15
The growing infatuation with electronica r&b seems to have reached its peak this year, and inc. have mastered that sound with uncanny ease. Although they debuted in 2010, it wasn't until the release of their full-length No World that the brothers really gained critical attention. Drawing on lush '80s beats and the dreamy sadness of modern electric projects, the brothers Aged round out their sound with soulful vocal lines that will have you swooning, sobbing, or both. -- By Caitlin White
