Cheap Laughs: The Best Independent Comedy in NYC This Week, 7/16 - 7/22
This week in Cheap Laughs, we have improvised stand-up, naked people, semi-secret venues, tribute bands, wolf-boys, a star of The Office, and folks who go deep for an hour and a half. Relax your pelvic floor, everybody: here's our rundown of the best in independently produced New York comedy this week.

Wednesday, July 16th
Stand Up On The Spot
The Stand, 8 p.m. $15.
This is an exciting show. A big hit in Los Angeles, Stand-Up On the Spot brings the current vogue for improvisation into the stand-up world. Big name perfomers volunteer to throw out their planned material and improvise jokes based entirely on audience suggestions. The line-up this evening is nauseatingly good: Todd Barry (who just did an entire tour of just crowd work), Joe DeRosa, Big Jay Oakerson, and Casey Balsham. Catch one of these early experimental shows, before it inevitably catches on in NYC.
Friday, July 18th
Naked Comedy Show
The Creek and the Cave, 11.45 p.m. Free.
Comedian Abigoliah Schamaun is moving to London, England. On her last night in New York City she is hosting this all-nude comedy show with her favorite colleagues who dare to bare it all. The audience also has the option (but not an obligation) to be as naked as they wish (everything on, everything off, or somewhere in between). All the venue owners request is that no photography or filming takes place, no lewd acts take place (take it home), and that folks re-dress before hanging out in the bar. Trust us: it's going to get wild.
Saturday, July 19th
Da Half Hour at The Brit Pack
The Brit Pack Theater, 9 p.m.
Two very funny women are performing half hours of stand-up for free, plus tons of free drinks this Saturday. You in? We can't understand why you wouldn't be. Sasheer Zamata (SNL) and Charla Lauriston are taking over hip, semi-secret Soho venue The Brit Pack Theater, alongside music from Lynette Williams and Akie Bermiss and host Lukas Kaiser. The show will likely pack out, so to ensure a seat, RSVP to email@example.com with the subject "da half hour" plus how many people are in your party.
