its really annoying how Rebecca puts her camera up in the air in the face of the performer all night (and in the way of the audience).
Posted On: Wednesday, Apr. 16 2008 @ 2:34PMfunny, it took her the whole show just to take those shots.
someone should of told her that "talent & a good eye" is not included with the camera.
Posted On: Wednesday, Apr. 16 2008 @ 4:13PMyes, rebecca please stop annoying us. these images aren't good enough for us to have to deal with your camera up in the air all the time
Posted On: Wednesday, Apr. 16 2008 @ 4:55PMher photos make me nostalgic for days pre-digital SLRs and large memory cards.
Posted On: Wednesday, Apr. 16 2008 @ 5:10PMDear Rebecca,
Get your fucking camera out of my way. Stand to the side like all of the other photogs or don't bring your camera if you want to be part of the crowd.
Thank you,
Lindsay
It's like a monkey at a type writer...take 600 photos a few are bound to be "good". Rebecca and her digicam can suck it.
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 12:01PMI think it's interesting that we meet here again. The day you and I encoutered one another I had been standing in a spot for at least an hour. I was hired by the indviduals who actually put the show on and assigned by CMJ to cover it at Irving Plaza when Spank Rock and a bunch of others performed. They were moving gear off the stage after Earl Greyhound performed and just when I was about to go back to my chosen spot. You bumped passed me and when I said to you that I had been there. You said" Well I am shooting for Rolling Stone and it's dog eat dog my friend. It's the environment we are in. And for most of the time you TRIED to shoot. Your camera was very much in my way along with your body. Luckily for me you don't pay much attention to where you are focusing when you shoot. I think you can go to my page here and find at least one shot of your camera in my picture. I actually did that on purpose though. For my own personal live show touch. It is a very competitive environment and just in case you are wondering how I found this thread? There was a young man standing in front of the stage with me. We introduced ourselves to one another and exchanged information. And then gave each other prime opportunities to capture. Maybe it wouldn't be so eratic if some people weren't so cut throat? We've seen each other since surgery and I have always smiled or given you a nod. I just don't know if you've ever noticed because that chip on your shoulder is so big you probably can't see passed it? I like some of your captures, but I think the majority of them or you rapid firing over your head hoping for a moment most of the time. That's just from my personal experiences of you in my opinion. See you around. EMP
Rebecca knows the angles and the exposures to use to get these dynamic motion-filled live shots. Having worked this way before, I know it's extremely difficult to get in there and get the close shots- the ones people want to see. Not a run-of-the-mill static concert shot. She is part of the crowd and that's why her work is so strong.
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 2:20PMUm, are these people for real with the insults on Rebecca? It's called photography- documenting rock and roll for history. These remarks are horrible. If you are serious about them, then don't ever pick up a Spin mag or a Rollingstone again.
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 3:24PMNot to mention, all the pictures we all have up somewhere of our favorite artists- it takes work to get a good shot, and its worth it for the art. Photographers are part of the show- its been like that always. And also, you guys are totally mean. Yes, i said MEAN.
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 3:33PMThe music business thrives on great live photographs, which is what Rebecca delivers as unobtrusively as possible. I have personally pushed many a photographer out of my sightline before, and Rebecca has not been one of them. She shoots, she listens, she dances, she drinks -- she's one of the crowd.
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 3:35PMI sincerely think all your Rebecca-hating nastiness is born out of jealousy. When's the last time anyone published anything of yours besides a spiteful comment?
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 3:37PMWow. When a photographer at a show get's more attention than the performance something is wrong.
Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 17 2008 @ 7:36PMThere's nothing jealous about paying $20 for a concert and having some twit in front of you holding her arms up in front of the band the whole time. And if you ask her to stop you get a quick lesson in New York nastiness. Fuck that girl.
Posted On: Friday, Apr. 18 2008 @ 3:39AMThe stage is over 3 feet high - even with her arms up how could she be blocking the view, unless you're directly behind her? everyone is holding their cameras and cellphones up? why single her out? what did she say to you?
Posted On: Friday, Apr. 18 2008 @ 11:32AMGee I thought this was pretty much dead. The lady here and I had a misunderstanding. We worked it out. And she seems to be quite nice! Those who hate on her I hope they can work it out cause I shoot many live shows too and there are times that people get a little weird. I usually talk to them or apologize and it's all good. Have a wonderful weekend. EMP
