Inauguration Special: Jay-Z's "My President Is Black" Remix

Categories: Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, politics

Jeezy: "I know ya'll thanking a lot of people right now...I want to thank two people. I want to thank the motherfucker overseas that threw two shoes at George Bush, and I want to thank the motherfuckers who helped them move they shit up out the White House. Get it moving bitch! My president is motherfucking black!"

Jay-Z: "My president is black, in fact he's half white/So even in a racist mind he's half right/If you've got a racist mind it's alright/My president is black, but his house is all white!"

I couldn't be more excited for this record whenever it actually comes out, although probably seeing these two play it at a D.C. afterparty two nights ago will be the pinnacle of somebody's concert-going life. I understand that. I'm OK with that. I'm just going to watch this video until 12:05...[Via VladTV]

Bonus: Official "My President" video, which also looks like it was a lot of fun.

I heard it and it to bad that they had brought themselves down to that level. Have they forgot that Obama preached for change and unity and now there acting like monkeys with mics. They need to remember that it wasn't just blacks that got him to the white house, it was latino, whites, asians and many more. They need to chill and not let the ghetto in them ruin what Obama worked so hard for,CHANGE AND UNITY. Jay Z should know better!!

Are there any black people in America that aren't racist? From what I've seen lately, they are all racist. Go figure.

How many white kids have bought racist rappers' music? More than black people I'm sure.

Blacks will always think they are owed something, even if they are multi-millionaires.

Billy Kess says:

It's good to see a black person elected as President. Now maybe we can finally do away with affirmative action as Obama has proved to us all that it is no longer needed. From here on in... when a black person fucks up, he can't blame it on whitey anymore. He'll have no one to blame but himself! Finally, as a white man, I can finally stop being blamed for the short-comings of the black man! Stay in school, don't join gangs, talk like a normal person, pull your damn pants up from around your freaking ankles and get yourself a real job! No mo' excuses!

Wow, too funny. Yes, they are being racists. They are also being the stereotypes they are trying to get rid of. The blacks in this country think that all of the sudden everything is going to be smooth sailing. They are not going to have to lift a finger to improver their situation. HA! I always like to remind those Obama supporters that he succeeded in the current system. Obama did not require an Obama to get to where he is. Stop being a victim. Stop relying on race as an excuse to why you do not succeed.

Do you think that this Jay-Z rapper is smart enough to know that more white people voted for Obama than black? Is he intelligent enough to know that President Bush kept us safe after 9/11? So terrorists didn't bomb his a$$? Is he educated enough to know that his comments made him sound a fool? I feel bad for him in a way, he may have money, but he advertised to the entire world how ignorant he is. If people continue making these comments for the entire 4 years, you can make sure that 'whitey' will not allow this again. Instead, why not embrace the fact that the intelligent majority of the land, is proud that a half white, half black man can become president (and I love the fact that it is noted he did it during the Bush Administration!). If, during the Bush Administration, I wore a shirt saying 'My President is White' it would be a big deal, but somehow this is different for Blacks. Everyone needs to drop the double standard, you do this by always thinking of it in the opposite way. Exp: If were to use the N word being a white person, I'm racist. But if this idiot does it, it is cheered. If I say My president is white, I'm racist. If this moron says it the morons around him cheer.... I hope that more black people can drop it! I don't owe you anything, I didn't do anything to you; if Obama can do it - so can you!

where where all these so called rappers in the early days of the obama movements

these cowards were somewhere hiding and lending no support while the other races were working their butts off

now they want to jump on the band wagon at the end and cry racism if the real core buyers stop buying their foolish self hating music that depicts black people as crimminals, drug dealer, prisoners, fools with money and retards

obama is the real deal, they all are fakes

And blacks wonder why they are in the position in life that most of them are. They are a LAZY, ignorant, scary, hand out accepting group of people. This little rap that Jay-z and a Little "Wanna Be" put out there just proves than they are no better or smarter than the apes that swing from trees.

Obama is as much white as he is black. He was raised in a loving home and the people who raised him were white. HIs mother was white, why is this never brought up. His father who left him is black and never had much contact with him. He is as much white as he is black. The man is the way he is because of the people who taught him to be a good, honest, loving intelligent, well spoken person. So why is it that just because his skin color is brown, his mothers side gets no credit for raising a man who is trying to get past skin color? If we really want to make a change and live in peace lets stop looking at his blackness. He is a man who can make a change, let him make it!!!

This is such a sad event, soo many want to degrade Jay Z for this, however, no need to, he did that himself. As far as Jeezy, it's not a surprise, at all. It's sad that Beyonce was asked to sing for "our" president and 1st lady's 1st dance and then J turns around and does something like this, how embarrassed she (Beyonce) must be. I am a white female and admire what Beyonce and J have accomplished, but yet question his decision. As far as racism, it's been here, it's going to be here until the end of time, however, we must make the decision for ourselves to be consumed with it or respect the people we come in contact with especially if we are an artist (ie music, big screen, author, etc) My question is, why? Why take a proud moment in history, one that you (J) as an intelligent, black business man, should be honored to be a part of and turn around and make such a stupid decision? There was absolutely no respect for Obama, Michelle, neither their children nor his mother in that performance. Please, people, be proud, celebrate and have a great time, but remain respectful and aware of the cause/event and the people it's affecting. (Notice I focused on J not Jeezy .... AGAIN.... not surprising!)

Who said that whites are racist? Why do black people have to assume that all whites are bad.. Sort of a double standard.. If that was a white guy up there talking about Obama...We would hear racist and the book thrown at him.. But noone is really making a big stink about his racist comments.. I am white, have a black son-in-law and a black grandaugter...My son-in-law was outraged when he heard this.. He to also made the comment about if a white person said anything about a black guy it would be haunt him forever publicly... So why is he not dealt with in the same manner?

Shame, shame, shame. Jay-Z has made a great deal of money on the backs of my people. Shame, shame, shame, on this ignoramus. By the way, that means ignorant person. Sometimes it makes sense to sit down and shut up. We don't need to hear another word from this fool. He has made enough money to buy himself an island somewhere in the middle of no where and stay away from civilized people. The unfortunate thing is, Jay-Z (or whatever his true name is) has made it that much worse for those of us Black people (not African Americans), but Black people who are descendants of slaves who live in this country. Shame, shame, shame. And remember, what God giveth, God can taketh away. The fall could be much harder than the rise. We have been through enough and we certainly don't need more ignorant individuals like this rapper. And take a clue my fellow brothers and sisters, we did not put Mr. Obama in the White House. We are only 17% of the population (if that) and according to statistics, a minimum of 6% of us are in prison. Get a clue and stop the madness. This is far from a victory.

Wow! Since when has it been a crime or an insult to be proud of your culture or of people who come from your culture. Nothing that was said in the video was against white people or against any other race. It was just pro-black. Alot of people can't handle that. Its too in your face.

When St.Patrick's Day comes every year we celebrate it and no one mentions how horrible it is that we are celebrating the great attributes of being Irish. Its the same principle. I wish people of other races would stop being so fearful of people of color assembling and being PROUD OF BEING BLACK or of African origin.

Grow the hell up! I am just as proud of being an American. I just have to be of prodominately African origin. And that was JayZ's point in the song. He even mentions how proud of the flag he is. He calls America pretty and tells her to wave at him.

Listen without FEAR. It can only help you progress!

And if you watch the Jeezy video there are a lot of white people in it. I'm seeing a lot more that feels racist and offensive to me on this board. But, like I said, maybe I missed something.

Well first i want to add a special comment to this messy situation . Black people were the slaves and any other race is on the outside looking in. These people,JAY-Z and Jeezy were just happy and showing emotions as black people that have came so far. what ? just because you have money you cant be your self and show you are happy ? Look on the ups black people have been nigger for years and we had to get over it, there was no means for disrespect. All i seen were proud men. Change begins within and some of these comments are people are looking at the wrong guys . if it offended you then i do not think you made that change within yourselves/ On top of that, these people who were so offended and shocked were the same people bashing George W for the past 2 years. I'm goiong to cut to the chase and give you what i see. All the people who seen the celebration as an act of rascism actually displayed a sense of disappointment to the great accomplishment achieved by a race that has been considered encapable and unworthy of even holding an office of such status. Coming from where your best chance of success is left up to how well you can move the latest product, one can come to understand exactly why those 2 men said what they said. so i say this. you know they had to put their bullshit in the game. Wouldn't be America .if they didn't.

Grow up! There is nothing racist about this song! It's just very pro-black.

If you don't like it stop listening to it. I love it. Great message!

I am not even “bi-racial” I come from many different races, although African is not one of them. I didn’t vote for Barrack Obama and I still disagree with you haters. This is free speech. There is nothing wrong with Jay-Z taking pride in the fact that we have our first African American president, whether President Obama is full or half or whatever it’s a momentous occasion no matter your race. “White Lies” is just a play on words and that’s the only thing that I heard that could have been misconstrued as racist. Again on a political level I disagree in his sentiments towards Former President Bush. But COME ON, let’s be glad that this could change everything such as patriotism throughout all cultures, I think that when he says:

“Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk, Martin Luther walked so Barrack Obama could run, Barrack Obama ran so all the children fly so I’m gonna spread my wings -you can meet me in the sky”

He didn’t say all the black children he said ALL THE CHILDREN! That is lyrically one of the most inspiring things I have heard. Now all the children can see there is no limits only the sky…and if someone posts on here saying things about “that’s why black people…” you are racist. You cannot lump a people together like that, but if you want to waste your freedom of speech to spread hate, I guess that’s your right. People are individuals and have their own minds and you’re so busy pointing fingers you can see how oppressive you are!

This isn't a racist song at all. As a white song writer, I admire the wordplay and creativity of it. IMO... the people that are so upset with this are just racist themselves... his language may have been course but white people use the same language. My president is black, yeah he's really half white but it doesn't even matter come the end of the night.

this is ridiculous. jay-z does not represent anyone but himself. and there will always be people you disagree with. in this case, however, to even try and imagine to put yourself in the shoes of those you couldn't possible understand is, again, ridiculous. choosing one person out of 300 million is easy. deciding for yourself based on facts OTHER than celebrities or news anchors is the hard part. are you up for the challenge? or will you continue to propel hate, regardless of the color? it's called a rational brain. we all have one. use it.

puck says:

seriously, is this all that bad?
why are folks going so crazy in reaction to this track?
also, the argument that hip hop artists were nowhere to be seen during the campaign is absurd. i mean, really, talib kweli, common, will.i.am, even ludacris came out to support the obama campaign... do you all remember the "yes we can" video will.i.am got behind... featuring scarlett johansson, john legend (what a voice), herbie hancock, kate walsh and more...
just as daddy yankee did a laughable press grab with mccain...

as far as some of the other comments - what about this song is racist? it's the modern-day blues and some bits are ridiculous... i mean, i've never heard jeezy say something worthwhile, but so what? rod stewart's music is crap, too, and i've never found his lyrics all that deep or powerful. i don't think any less of white people because rod stewart is a crappy pop musician.

mind you, it's very different to be pro-black than to be anti-white or to be racist. unfortunately, us white folks have a lot of the pro-white language usurped by straight-up racists... but i can have pride in my heritage without hating people of color... and so can people of color without hating white people, so stop feeling so oppressed for being privileged, okay?

finally, on the affirmative action thing... you know, richard wright was a world-renowned author by the time native son came out in 1940... did that mean that racism was over? was the mongomery bus boycott predicated on a myth because langston hughes had already achieved great success, so separate must be equal?

that's garbage... i mean, really... just because one exceptional man or woman is successful doesn't mean that all the injustices in the system in which that individual lives have been smoothed out.

but, hey, if you're just looking to ignore the suffering of your brothers and sisters on this wide earth and in this great nation, then you'll just use whatever excuse you can find, right?

just because we've had one black male president doesn't mean that the systematic oppression of people of color is over... just look at the numbers from the bureau of justice statistics on how people of color get tagged for harsher treatment at each stage in the criminal justice system... but, hey... whatever... statistics are confusing, right? we've got a black president and we can't let our fragile hold on racial supremacy erode... get rid of affirmative action!

peace and blessings
