Rep Peter King Will Not Be Able to Call Michael Jackson a Pedophile on the House Floor, Sadly

Contra Texas Democratic Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee, the House will not be voting on or even debating Resolution 600, which would claim Michael Jackson as an "American legend and musical icon," and put the pop singer forward as "someone who will be honored forever and forever and forever and forever" (there may have been more "forevers"; unclear). Nancy Pelosi, sensibly, declared at a press conference today that

"Michael Jackson was a great, great performer, and lots of sadness there for many reasons...What I have said to my colleagues over the years, and certainly as leader and as speaker, is that there's an opportunity on the floor of the House to express their sympathy or their praise any time that they wish. I don't think it's necessary for us to have a resolution."

Angry NY GOP Congressman Peter King, who is currently on a national Jackson-is-pervert tour, is surely relieved, although he may have welcomed to the opportunity to do some more grandstanding about his dead, "pedophile" nemesis. King has been on quite a tear, appearing on YouTube, CBS 2 HD, Bill O'Reilly, and the New York Post, to name a few, in order to wallow in the "raw nerve" he opened in a mournful nation by talking about Jackson's alleged boy-violating ways.

Others probably agree with him: the Times comes dangerously close to being funny with this tongue-in-cheek aside about the dilemma Pelosi faces: "The House speaker also may want to avoid the spectacle of another walkout by those who aren't spending their congressional pay downloading the ultimate Jackson collections or imitating or perfecting the moonwalk." We say if even one congress(wo)man perfects the moonwalk, preferably on the House floor, Jackson will have won, in perpetuity, resolutions be damned.

Susan White-Koger says:

As a parent I will attest to the fact that no amount of money would prevent me from seeking criminal justice if my child were molested. Period. Thus, I believe the father of the first boy lied and forced his son to lie also. Regarding the second accusation of molestation,
Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges in a court of law. Has it occurred to this loudmouthed, self-righteous, judgmental civil service fool to keep his personal opinions to himself? He is free to espouse his slander in his own home, most likely the same home where he hangs his sheets in the closet! I think the Jackson family should sue this hater in court for his slanderous, hurtful and vile comments. The Jackson family and his childern have suffered enough and it is now time for everyone to stop using Michael Jackson as their whipping boy. The man is dead for Godsake, leave him the alone!

Mike coul not understand why people hated him. They hated him because it was promised by Jesus.Jesus said they will hate when you are good Jesus said they hated me first. We as true Christians or Muslems must remember we belong to the most high God we will be hated when you are true to God.

john williams says:

First to Tom Jenkins, were you in the room to confirm that Michael Jackson molested anyone? do you even know anything about the case? if you ever read the allegations and listened to the evidence then you might have come to the same conclusion as the twelve men and women who aquitted him of all charges. How foolish people are when they belive everything they read or that the media tells them. Do you even realize that the first boy who accussed him has since recanted and said his father put him up to it. You won't hear that on CNN or FOX news. Second to Peter King you are a certified nut case, you being a congresssman you should no that in our country it is innnocent before proven quilty, I bet he would remember that if one of his sex mad, in the closet Republican buddies got caught in some sex sting, where was his big mouth when larry craig got caught trying score in a men's restroom or where was his big speech when Mark Foley was hitting on under age boys in the halls of congress, I hope The Jackson sue your rightwing ass off!

spongekill says:

What this says about the US is that people are more interested in celebrating someone who was a positive influence in the lives of billions around the world than they are in scoffing at an unrivaled entertainment and philanthropy because of a still debatable molestation charge from 1993.

Peter King probably didn't even know who Michael Jackson was until the pedophile headlines started hitting tabloids, and to date he probably hasn't gathered any information about the matter short of those headlines. King's interests lie in flinging accusations that allow him to elevate himself morally, a cornerstone a Republican thought.

BCfromNC says:

Michael was aquitted because in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. When the proof is paidoff and silenced the case is dismissed. Great entertainer? You bet. American icon? I don't think so. He was so polluted with drugs, He was nolonger thinking straight. Do you want an icon? How about the 18 yearold putting he's LIFE on the line so you can sleep at night. I never saw Michael do that.
