Great GoogaMooga Announces Initial Food Lineup: Prepare To Salivate

googamooga_logo.jpg
This morning the organizers of Great GoogaMooga—the "amusement park of food and drink" set to take place in Prospect Park on May 19 and 20—announced the first chunk of the food lineup for the festival, and not to kill a cliché or anything, but it looks like the park's greenery will be transformed into a garden of culinary delights for the weekend. The weekend—to which admission is free, but ticketed—will host some 75 food vendors (organized into pavilions like Hamageddon and the UrBARN), 35 brewers, 30 wineries, and 20 musical performances by still-to-be-named acts. (Perhaps Coolio, whose YouTube channel will be represented, will break into song at one point?)

Those who feel like their festival experience isn't real unless they pony up some cash for it can buy tickets to the VIP iteration, "ExtraMooga," which will be held in a wooded section of the park and have its own slew of entertainments, including a DJ set by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and a "performance" by culinary enfant terrible and sorely missed presence on Top Chef Anthony Bourdain. The current lineup of participating restaurants, many of which are Voice-critic-approved, below.

Hear Aziz Ansari and Dave Sitek's Bravura Rap Attack "AAAAAAAANGRY (with eight A's)"

aaaaaaaangry.jpg
A worthy successor to "How to Rob," if not "Second Round Knock Out," even if you hate laughing. Over five minutes formerly Brooklynite and world-beating comedian Aziz Ansari goes in on everyone from Dre to Eminem to Clipse to Kid Cudi, with the same loving attention to detail and hilarity he brought to explaining who Skeritt Bwoy was on national television. Jokes for days. Destined for Dave Sitek-produced mixtape, which we are now officially anticipating in an almost embarrassing way. Catch RZA on the outro, too--good couple weeks for him and random indie-rockish dudes. Download it here, or stream it at the Fader. Major Drake-on-the-chorus-of-"Forever" impression!

Jimmy Kimmel Exposes the Aziz Ansari/Major Lazer Connection

Never in my life did I think I'd witness a late night TV bit that turned on explaining to a national audience who exactly Skeritt Bwoy is, and why you might see him at a Major Lazer concert. You've got to give it to Aziz Ansari--from Kanye to R. Kelly to Diplo and Switch, he keeps music-related jokes extremely au courant. And hilarious--even to an extremely confused Kate Walsh, whose scandalized laughter basically makes this worth it all by itself. The anecdote involves Skeritt Bwoy inciting Aziz to create a new dance for an increasingly baffled Australian audience but whatever, just watch it.

News Roundup: Kurt Cobain Turned Guitar Hero Zombie, Aziz Ansari Remixes Kanye and Jay-Z, and That New LCD Soundsystem Record Sounds Crazy

-Someone--presumably, Courtney Love--not only licensed the likeness of onetime living person Kurt Cobain to Guitar Hero 5, but also signed off making him an unlockable, playable character. The upshot? The horrendous video above, in which Cobain is helplessly piloted through Flavor Flav karaoke, Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself," and Jon Bon Jovi's unbearable "You Give Love a Bad Name," to name a few. OK, one more: Bush, a band that once pulled this same trick, except they were trying to be Kurt, and not vice versa. The tags on this YouTube video: "spinning graves kurt cobain courtney love is fucking bitch gitaroo man ."
