For the second year in a row, Chicago post-punk veteran goliaths Shellac graced The Bell House stage for two post-All Tomorrow's Parties hangover shows, ready to give their loyal (and very male-dominated) following a world of aluminum guitar-scraping hurt, their trademark side-splitting Q & A sessions and one-liner between-song zingers.

In the early 2000's, the shits 'n' giggles folks at snarkier-than-thou Chunklet Magazine plopped recording engineer god and Shellac guitarorrist Steve Albini on its cover, screaming: Is This Guy The Biggest Asshole In Rock? That infamous issue still resonates on his rep today--and he could care less. But brutal honesty and outspokenness shouldn't equal a-hole-dom, and fact is, Albini's one of the good guys. His cutthroat, drum machine-anchored postpunk band from the 80s, Big Black, revolutionized the Industrial music blueprint with their album Songs About Fucking then formed the eloquently-named Rapeman. (Offensive? Nah.)

Today brings more confirmations for the three-day line-up of the Jim Jarmusch-curated All Tomorrow's Parties New York. Adding to the stellar list of Explosions in the Sky, Raekwon, Sonic Youth, the Breeders, Fucked Up, Girls, and the Stooges doing Raw Power are Shellac (credited in the press release as "House Band," which they more or less are), Hallogallo ("Michael Rother and Friends perform the Music of Neu!"), Text of Light (which includes Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo), and the Greenhornes.
