Rules That Are Made to Be Broken

Now that things aren't going so well in the Imperium, what with all those inconvenient deaths still occurring in Iraq (see the Department of Defense's casualty reports at its News Releases site and the running total), "Rumsfeld's Rules" have been thrown into the memory hole. Click on the Rumsfeld's Rules link on a DoD site and you get the following message: "Rumsfeld's Rules are no longer available on line from the Department of Defense." But that doesn't mean you can't find these old saws that Rummy supposedly follows. In a government press release from January 2001, the fourth rule listed stands out: "It is easier to get into something than to get out of it."
