Would McCain Dare Pick Lindsey Graham?

Waiting with bad breath for John McCain's Obama-thunder-stealing announcement of the GOP veep nominee, one thing is clear: The guy will be younger than McCain.

Now, would McCain dare pick his South Carolina confidant Lindsey Graham? A senator from the South would make the match with Obama a classic. And it would be bad news for Obama because Graham would give crackers throughout the country an excuse to vote for the white-only ticket.

Joe Lieberman? No way. The country perhaps — just maybe — is ready to grow up and accept a black president. But the U.S. is definitely not ready for a Jewish one.

Strictly in my own self-interest as a nattering nabob, my sentimental choice would be Dick Cheney. He needs more caning.
