Decimal Doubt at Ferrer HQ

Categories: On the Stump
Freddy Ferrer's supporters went on a bit of a roller coaster ride in the half-hour or so before their man took the stage at the Puck Building to claim victory tonight. While Ferrer seemed well past the 40 percent mark early in the night (At Miller HQ, the numbers guy was convinced Ferrer had locked up a first-round win), he slipped to 39.9 on the TV screens at around 10:30. The room of Ferrer backers seemed a little stunned. Councilman Joel Rivera called up about every notable in the room to try to fill the gap until Ferrer arrived. Then at about 11, NY1 flashed 40 percent on the screen. No one knew quite what that meant. But then Ferrer was walking in. They had to get him on before the 11 o'clock news ended. But the moment seemed a little muted.
