It's Raining Endorsements

Categories: On the Stump
With six days to go, the time to choose sides in September 13 primary is running out, and campaigns are rattling off their new backers. The Communication Workers of America on Wednesday got behind Fernando Ferrer, the New York Observer and a group of Williamsburg rabbis said they want Gifford Miller, and the New York Times announced Betsy Gotbaum "does need to push herself" but deserves to be re-elected as public advocate. Meanwhile, the Miller campaign continued to go after its rival for second place, Anthony Weiner, demanding that Weiner not air ads on September 11; Weiner has said he hasn't decided whether to pay for commercials that day or not. And on the poll front, pick your race: The Marist Poll released this weekend has Freddy losing his grip on 40 percent, with Weiner in second, Miller in third, and Fields in the anchor slot. But an Observer/Pace University poll has Ferrer at 35 percent and closing in on a first round win, with Miller a distant second, Fields next, and Weiner bringing up the rear.
