Expect a torrent of tributes to Joe Torre now that he's stepped down as team manager after 12 years with the Yanks. This one is set to Billy Joel, whom we are not too fond of, but it seemed fitting nonetheless. Sorry about the Rudy footage too.
Though it's a major loss for Yankee fans and the entire organization, Joe Torre's departure from the Yankees is a victory for human dignity.
After 12 years of distinguished service, including four World Series championships, the Yankees' so-called braintrust keep Torre dangling on a hook for weeks and finally ended that misery with a lowball offer.
And Torre walked away. Attaboy, Joe.
