NY Post Metro Editor Walks Out of Newsroom and Quits

Categories: Media

Newly minted New York Post Metro Editor Dan Colarusso walked out of the tabloid's Sixth Avenue newsroom last night and won't be back, sources say. There's still no word on what precipitated his dramatic departure after less than a year on the job.

A former Business Editor, Colarusso is credited with reinvigorating the Post's business pages before being elevated to the metropolitan editor in January when former Metro Editor Jesse Angelo was promoted to managing editor.

When he promoted Colarusso, Post Editor in Chief Col Allan told Page Six: "Dan is a quintessential New Yorker who has helped position the Post's business section as one of the best and most original in the nation. His hard-news sense and street smarts will be invaluable assets in leading the news staff."

Word has it that Colarusso and Allan were pretty chummy before he took the new job, so clearly there must have been some new and pretty serious problems if Colarusso just walked away without something else lined up.

We put a call in to the Post's publicists at Rubenstein and are waiting to hear back.
