David Henry Hwang accepts his Obie

8:22 pm Julie White presents the Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski an Obie for Krum by Hanoch Levin (TR Warszawa/BAM). She called the play a "deft intermingling of the profound and the profane." Sadly, Krzysztof is in Paris (ooo la la!) and has asked Monika Fabijanska, director of the Polish Cultural Institute, to accept on his behalf.

8:16 pm Marisa Tomei presents an Obie to a very emotional LisaGay Hamilton for her role in this year’s revival of Adrienne Kennedy’s The Ohio State Murders (Theatre for a New Audience).

8:12 pm Julie White is presenting an Obie to the playwright David Henry Hwang for Yellow Face (Public Theater).

8:11 pm Presenter Julie White has just thanked the Voice for helping her find her first apartment. Yeah!

8:11 pm Presenters Marisa Tomei and Julie White have glided onto the stage. Marisa is wearing a killer purple dress and silver heels.

8:10 pm Elizabeth Marvel is talking about how happy she is to be out of the house: "If we weren't here, we'd be watching Shrek or Pinocchio for the ten-thousandth time. So it's good to be out and out of our pajamas at this hour."
