Voice Choice: Click!

Categories: Voice Choices

It’s hard to find another borough that can compete with Brooklyn pride. So when the Brooklyn Museum decided to get the public involved with its Click! photography exhibit, the response was understandably overwhelming: 389 shutterbugs participated in the open call on the theme “Changing Faces of Brooklyn,” electronically submitting one photo each with a statement attached. Among the more than 400,000 individuals who surveyed these photos online, 3,344 actually went through the entire process to curate every single one. (Now that’s love right there.) Inspired by the central argument of The Wisdom of Crowds, in which New Yorker business and financial guru James Surowiecki proposes that “a diverse crowd is often wiser at making decisions than expert individuals,” the museum decided to run with the idea in this visually imaginative way. Sounds picture-perfect. At 10, through August 10, Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, brooklynmuseum.org, 718-638-5000, $8 EUDIE PAK
