Mets, Yankees Win, Still Suck, Say Experts

Categories: Baseball, Featured

metspitch.jpgThe Mets and the Yankees won last night, but as is increasingly their custom, blog ball fans take little pleasure in it.

"A win, a save, and a 'W' for Johan Santana," says Amazin' Avenue. "It could've gone a lot worse, but Santana was great outside of the first inning and the bullpen pitched two scoreless frames. Yea. Read that last part again. It's not a typo."

The Yanks even overcame a blown save by Rivera, but that didn't placate Peter Abraham of the LoHud Yankees Blog. "Let’s admit it," says Abraham, "A loss tonight would have put the kibosh on the season. On the day Hank Steinbrenner declared the Yankees would win it all next season, a walk-off loss against the Twins would have been devastating." Ah, what might have been.

"For the team, this win may yet turn out to be the game that saved the season," says River Ave. Blues, "or at least delayed the inevitable..."

Cheer up, guys. You'll have four games of a Divisional Series to cry about later.
