Staten Island Man, Mauled By Pit Bulls, Dies
A 90-year-old Staten Island man who was mauled by two pit bulls on July 1 has succumbed to his injuries, the Staten Island Advance reports. Port Richmond's Henry Piotrowski had been in Richmond University Medical Center's ICU since the dogs attacked him in his backyard nearly seven weeks ago. The dogs have been euthanized and their owners, James McNair and Kim DiPrima, had been indicted "on charges of second- and third-degree assault, unlawfully dealing with fireworks and failure to restrain the dogs," per a previous report, and will now almost certainly face more serious charges. "Neighbors said the pit bulls were allowed to run rampant throughout the neighborhood for months," says the Advance, "and criticized the city for failing to take action despite repeated 911 and 311 calls."
