Assault, Theft Trouble City Buses

busweek.jpgOn eleven especially bad bus routes, says the New York Daily News, drivers have been assaulted 103 times. "Some have had their eye sockets broken, teeth broken, you name it," an MTA official tells the paper. The News lists only two of the routes: The Nostrand Avenue (B44), which runs between Lynch Street and Avenue U/Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, and the worst route, the Bainbridge Avenue (Bx34), running between Katonah Avenue/East 242nd Street and Fordham Road/Valentine Avenue in the Bronx, which between January 2007 and June 2008 reported 12 assaults.

1010WINS adds that the MTA estimates about 130,000 bus riders haven't paid their fare, but does not say within what time period these malfeasances occurred.
