Donut Social Recap: 1.5 Songs, 4 Arrests

donuts.jpgThe Donut Social protest, preparations for which we covered earlier, resulted in four arrests in Tompkins Square Park Friday night. From what we can piece together from two posts at Neither More Nor Less, it seems to have gone like this: the bands' and protestors' frustration with the NYPD's onerous noise restrictions led to "the defiant turning on of the amplified sound for a song-and-a-half and the fans jubilant response," thence to the pulling of the plug, and heightened tensions; Leftover Crack lead singer Scott Sturgeon may or may not have hurled donuts at the cops, then gone with a contingent to the Park, where he was arrested; other protestors attempted a blockade of the police car removing Sturgeon, leading to further arrests. More impressions at EV Grieve.
