Governor Proclaims "Change a Light Day New York"

patersonright.jpgIt's good to know that in these times of crisis, our elected officials maintain a healthy sense of perspective. Governor Paterson proclaims today, October 1, "Change a Light Day New York," and with the York State Energy Research and Development Authority encourages you to switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs. The US EPA's Energy Star program, which has sponsored the Change a Light Day campaign nationwide for nine years, last announced outreach in the state on December 14 of last year, when it began a year-long drive of "free public events, forums, film nights designed to provide information and education on the climate change crisis" in Yorktown. The Governor also encourages you to use power strips, turn off the lights when you leave a room (presumably only if there is no one else in the room), and to use "ENERGY STAR qualified Light-Emitting Diode (LED) holiday lighting strands" in your Christmas decorations.
